The Luxury Home & Design Objects Guide
Furniture, lighting, tableware and objects where craft meets daily life.
Luxury for the home is most compelling when an object serves its setting as well as its maker's design language. Furniture, lighting and tableware deserve a different assessment from fashion: dimensions, installation, materials, maintenance and the cost of moving them all matter.
Read the buying guides ↗Measure doorways, lifts, stair turns and the room itself before ordering. Confirm material samples in the actual light, electrical compatibility, mounting requirements, lead time, assembly, delivery and return terms. For collectible design, distinguish a contemporary edition from a numbered, limited or historically documented example.
Request an itemised specification: maker, designer attribution, materials, dimensions, edition or production details, condition, restoration history and provenance where relevant. Inspect joinery, finish, stability and electrical components. For valuable vintage pieces, use an independent specialist rather than relying only on a seller's attribution.
Apartment scale, humidity, air-conditioning and frequent moves influence furniture choice across many Asian cities. Check wood movement and textile care in humid conditions, and confirm whether installation and after-sales service cover your postcode. For imported objects, obtain a delivered-cost estimate and verify any applicable import requirements before ordering.
Care is material-specific: stone, lacquer, timber, textiles and plated metals respond differently to water, sunlight and cleaning agents. Keep maker care sheets with the invoice and test cleaners in an inconspicuous area. Avoid placing valuable materials beside windows, humidifiers or strong air-conditioning vents without checking guidance.

The short answers
Frequently asked questions
How do I verify a designer furniture attribution?
Request maker documentation, edition details and provenance, then consult a reputable specialist or the relevant archive. A label or seller description is not proof by itself.
Should I buy a collectible design object online?
Only after verifying dimensions, condition, provenance, delivery method, insurance, return terms and who bears transit risk.
